Enter your guests and pick the portion size. Party portions are the generous slices you cut at a birthday; wedding portions are the narrow ones a caterer cuts. Both use the standard serving charts bakers work from.

Questions people ask
- What size cake do I need for 30 people?
- A 10-inch (25 cm) round cake gives about 28 party servings or 38 wedding servings. For 30 birthday guests, a 12-inch round (40 party servings) or a 9x13 inch sheet cake (about 36) leaves a margin. Two 8-inch rounds also work.
- How many people does a sheet cake feed?
- A quarter sheet (9x13 inch, about 23x33 cm) serves 20 to 24 party portions, a half sheet (12x18 inch) about 40 to 48, and a full sheet (18x24 inch) about 80 to 96. Cut smaller wedding portions and the numbers rise by roughly a third.
- How many cupcakes per person?
- One per guest, plus 10 percent for seconds and the ones that fall over. For 30 guests order 33, which is three boxes of twelve with a few spare.
- How do I know how many guests to plan the cake for?
