Christmas Party Invitation Wording: 30 Examples to Copy

• Thomas

December fills up fast. Everyone has a work party, a family dinner and a school concert on the calendar, so a Christmas invite that goes out late or says "sometime around the holidays" loses to the ones with a date on them.

So here are 30 examples, sorted by the kind of party. Pick one, swap in your details, and send it as text or on a card from the free Christmas party invitation maker. At the end there's a short note on RSVP lines and how to send it so you get answers back. If you're organizing the work party, the office holiday party wording post has 25 more for that.

What every Christmas party invite needs

  • Date and start time. Send it early, December weekends book up by mid-November.
  • The address, and parking if your street fills up.
  • Who's invited: partners, kids, or grown-ups only.
  • What you provide and what to bring, if anything.
  • Any rules: ugly sweaters, Secret Santa, a $20 gift limit.
  • How to RSVP and by when.

The gift rule is the one people forget and then ask about in private messages. If there's a Secret Santa, put the price limit in the invite and save yourself ten texts.

RSVP lines that get answers

In December people say "maybe" to everything until the last week. A date and a reason help. A few that work:

  • "Reply by December 10 so we get the right size roast."
  • "Let us know by the 4th, we draw Secret Santa names that weekend."
  • "Tap the link to say yes or no. Takes ten seconds, no account needed."
  • "Reply with names, kids included, so Santa has a present for everyone."

Pick a reply-by date at least a week before you shop or book anything.

Sending it

The wording is half of it. The other half is getting answers back without chasing people.

If you send the invite as a picture in the family group chat, you'll get hearts, a few "sounds lovely" and no headcount. Send a link instead. With the free Christmas invite maker you put your wording on a card, share one link, and guests reply with their name. No signup for them, no spreadsheet for you. The headcount updates as replies come in, and for a potluck a free account adds a "who brings what" list.

If you already have a card and only need the replies, the Christmas party RSVP page does that part on its own.

Merry Christmas, and save one cookie for yourself :)
