Halloween Invitation Wording: 30 Examples, Kids to Adults

• Thomas

Writing the invite is the part of Halloween planning that people put off. The costume theme is decided, the date is set, and then the text box stays empty for a week.

So here are 30 examples, sorted by the kind of party. Pick one, swap in your details, done. At the end there's a short note on what to include and how to send it so you get real answers back.

What every Halloween invite needs

Whatever the wording, guests ask about these every time, so put them in:

  • Date and start time. If it's a kids' party, the end time as well.
  • The address, or "our place" if everyone knows it.
  • Costumes: required, welcome, or please don't.
  • Kids, adults, or both.
  • What you provide (food, drinks, candy) and what to bring, if anything.
  • How to RSVP and by when.

That last one matters more than the pun in the headline. A clear "reply by the 25th" gets you a headcount. "Let me know!" gets you three thumbs-up emojis.

RSVP lines that get answers

The invite sets the tone, but the RSVP line decides whether you get a headcount. A few that work:

  • "Reply by October 25 so we know how many treat bags to fill."
  • "Let us know by the 24th, the caterer needs numbers."
  • "Tap the link to say yes or no. Takes ten seconds, no account needed."
  • "Reply with names please, kids and grown-ups, so nobody goes without a costume prize."

Name a date and say why you need it. Then make replying easy.

Sending it

The wording is half of it. The other half is getting answers back without chasing people.

If you send the invite as a picture in a group chat, you'll get reactions, and reactions are useless for counting. Send a link instead. With the free Halloween invite maker you can put your wording on a card, share one link, and guests reply with their name. No signup for them, no spreadsheet for you. The headcount updates as replies come in.

If you already have a card and only need the replies, the Halloween RSVP page does that part on its own.

Have fun, and go easy on the fog machine :)
