Thanksgiving Invitation Wording: 25 Examples, Family to Work
Thanksgiving dinner has one number that matters: how many people are sitting down. The turkey, the chairs, the pies, everything follows from it. So the invite has one job, which is to get that number back to you before you shop.
Here are 25 wording examples for family dinners, Friendsgiving, potlucks and office lunches. Copy one, change the details, and put a clear reply-by date on it. Thanksgiving 2026 is on Thursday, November 26.

What to put in a Thanksgiving invite
- Date and the time food is served. "Come from 2, we eat at 4" saves a lot of questions.
- The address, and parking if it's tricky.
- Who's invited: partners, kids, the friend who has nowhere to go.
- Whether it's a potluck, and if so, what's still needed.
- Dietary notes you already know about, so people can plan their dish.
- A reply-by date. Give yourself at least a week before you shop.
RSVP lines for Thanksgiving
The reply-by date is what makes Thanksgiving planning calm. A few lines that work:
- "Reply by November 15 so the turkey is the right size."
- "Let us know by the 18th. Chairs are limited and I'd rather borrow than guess."
- "Tap the link, say yes or no, and pick a dish. Takes ten seconds, no account."
- "Please reply with names, kids included, so everyone has a plate."
Sending it
For Thanksgiving, the invite is half of the work and the dish list is the other half. If you run it in a group chat, you'll have someone bringing rolls twice and nobody bringing a vegetable.
With the free Thanksgiving invite maker you write your wording on a card, share one link, and guests reply with their name. Turn on the potluck option and they claim a dish while they reply, so the list fills itself. No signup for them.
If you only need the dish sign-up and the headcount, the Thanksgiving RSVP page or the potluck page will do.
Enjoy the leftovers :)
