Baby Shower Invitation Wording and Messages: 30 Examples

• Thomas

A baby shower invite has to do two things at once. It has to sound warm, and it has to get you a headcount before you order the cake. Most examples online do the first part and forget the second.

So here are 30 examples, sorted by the kind of shower. Pick one, swap in the names and the date, and put a clear reply-by date on it. At the end there's a short note on what to include and how to send it so the replies come back on their own.

What every baby shower invite needs

The sweet line is nice, but guests read for these:

  • Who the shower is for, and who is hosting.
  • Date, start time and roughly when it ends.
  • The address, and parking if it's tricky.
  • Who's invited: women only, co-ed, kids welcome or not.
  • Food: brunch, lunch, cake and tea, so nobody arrives hungry or full.
  • Registry or gift note, if there is one. One line is enough.
  • How to RSVP and by when.

The reply-by date is the one people leave out. Give yourself a week before you order food and favors.

RSVP lines that get answers

The invite sets the tone, but the RSVP line decides whether you get a headcount. A few that work:

  • "Please reply by April 30 so we can order the cake."
  • "Let us know by the 12th, the caterer needs numbers."
  • "Tap the link to say yes or no. Ten seconds, no account needed."
  • "Reply with names, kids included, so everyone gets a favor."

Name a date and say why you need it. Then make replying easy.

Sending it

Baby shower invites tend to go out to a mix of people: family, work friends, the neighbor, the guest of honor's college roommates. Half of them aren't in the same group chat. A picture sent around gets hearts, and hearts don't count.

Send a link instead. With the free baby shower invitation maker you put your wording on a card, share one link, and guests reply with their name. Plus-ones are counted, and with a free account you can add a question for allergies or "in person or online". Guests never sign up, and the headcount updates as replies come in.

If you already have a card and only need the replies, the baby shower RSVP page does that part on its own.

Planning a reveal instead of a shower? The gender reveal invitation examples include a brunch and a picnic, with separate arrival and reveal times.
